Dozens of Art House members, young and old, gathered at the museum for Pizza & Pottery on Saturday. Budding artists took refuge from the summer heat inside the Great Hall for an afternoon of pottery making and delicious pizza, courtesy of Barley’s Tap Room in Knoxville’s Old City.
The members were divided into two groups, with the toddlers working in the Kramer Room, under the guidance of art teacher, Hannah Fuller. They first glazed a ceramic creation to be fired in the museum’s own kiln.
They also had the chance to create small “food items” with the oh-so-colorful model magic (by Crayola.)
In the Great Hall, kids aged 5 and up worked with clay to make their very own plates and other creative creations. Led by art teacher, Ericka Ryba, the little artists learned various techniques when working with clay.
The Art House committee is already in the works planning fun and exciting events like Pizza & Pottery!
